Overhead catenary design and electrification consultancy, based in Toronto.
Shaping the future of transportation engineering through innovation and sustainability.
Responsible innovation, one electrification project at a time.
E-Cat Transit Consultancy is a trusted provider of overhead catenary design and electrification consultancy services, specializing in electrification for the transportation industry.
With our expertise in overhead catenary design, we help create efficient, environmentally friendly rail networks. We also offer conceptual design for E-Highways: electrified road systems for more sustainable freight.
Our solutions are tailored to the unique requirements of each project. We work closely with our clients to deliver designs that maximize efficiency and environmental benefit, and that are technically sound and buildable.
Driven by our commitment to the environment, we actively advocate for electrification and eco-conscious transportation systems, helping to tackle climate change and build a cleaner, more sustainable future.
Our principles
Tailored
Solutions shaped around each project’s unique requirements, not off-the-shelf answers.
Integrated
OCS and traction power considered as part of the whole railway system: track, structures, stations, signalling and fleet.
Sustainable
Electrification as a route to cleaner transportation, delivered efficiently and responsibly.
Experienced electrification engineers
Our team brings 18+ years of rail electrification and catenary systems experience across North America and the UK, covering high-voltage AC and low-voltage DC overhead catenary systems and overhead rigid conductor rail.
We have led and managed engineering design teams based around the world, and held lead OCS and electrification leadership roles on major light rail, light metro and mainline programs.
- P.Eng (Ontario) registered engineers
- C.Eng (UK) chartered engineers
- 25 kV AC & 650–1500 V DC OCS
- Overhead rigid rail
Active in Canada’s rail community
E-Cat Transit exhibited at TRACCS (Transit & Rail Association of Canada) Rail Day in 2026, connecting with owners, contractors and engineers working on rail across Canada.
